At Roots Therapy and Training Center, we are committed to individual, couple, and family therapy that is evidence-based and culturally sensitive and that brings healing and restoration to the lives of the individuals and families we serve. We have a passion for seeing all people become healthy and whole. We celebrate culture, seek justice and reconciliation and applaud progress, no matter how small.
SERVICES PROVIDED
TELEHEALTH
Can't make it to our office? We offer a convenient option to fit meetings into your daily schedule, and are currently holding online telehealth video or phone sessions with clients.
INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING
Life is full of complex challenges and opportunities. We help people identify areas of growth by providing a safe and supportive space to process what’s going on in their lives. We assist clients in getting “unstuck” in the way they think about their problems and collaborate to find possible solutions to the challenges they face.
CHILD THERAPY
Working with children is one of our great joys. We work with children and teens from all backgrounds who are dealing with a wide range of issues. Trauma, abuse, family transitions and behavioral or relational challenges are all areas we are comfortable helping your child work through. We strive to gain trust and respect with children and their families in order to help them grow and heal.
COUPLES THERAPY
Couples face unique challenges and there is never a one size fits all solution. We help couples sift through surface issues and get to the root of the conflict. We offer support and tools to effectively handle the emotional and practical issues that can arise when sharing life together.
FAMILY THERAPY
Families are a complex and wonderful gift. Our work with families aims to provide a safe and respectful space that ensures everyone is heard and valued. We pay close attention to family dynamics and help identify the patterns of behavior that might be at the root of family challenges. We can evaluate generational legacies, provide boundary coaching and help families function in a healthier way.
CLINICAL SUPERVISION
We offer clinicians supervision that is grounded in a strength based bio-psycho-social-spiritual systems orientation. We aim to provide a context for supervisees that fosters growth, creativity, and space for self-reflection and genuine interactions.
MULTICULTURAL ASSESSMENT
As a licensed Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) Administrator, I can help you or your community build intercultural awareness and learn how to better navigate intercultural experiences. The IDI is a cross-cultural (offered in 17 languages), valid, and reliable 50-item online questionnaire that can be completed in 15 minutes created by Dr. Mitchell Hammer.

SESSIONS
WHAT TO EXPECT
In the first few sessions, you can expect your therapist to invest into getting to know you and the presenting issues. A primary focus of our first few sessions with clients is to build a therapeutic-alliance that we can utilize to maximize the effectiveness of our work; a solid therapist-client relationship is critical to the success of therapy. Additionally, time will be invested into completing a biological-psychological-social-spiritual assessment, which allows us to better understand how these domains shape your life and presenting problems.
